Hatley Castle was built by coal baron,  British Columbia Premier, and Lieutenant Governor James Dunsmuir.  No expense is said to have been spared in the construction of this 1908 Scottish baronial styled castle and its extensive grounds which overlook the Strait of Juan de Fuca and the Olympic mountain range beyond.

 

Hatley Castle's proud history includes hosting Royal Roads Military College for many years and today is home to Royal Roads University.

 

Opulent rooms on the main floor of the castle as well as the outdoor grounds surrounding the castle can be rented for weddings and other private events.

 

Festive white tents, heaters and flooring provide coverage and comfort from inclement weather conditions for white linen and candelight luncheon or dinner service, and dancing, or whatever other customized event design you would like.
